postage rate

Hi teachers,

Is the postage rate is the cost you pay for the parcel to the postal office or a unit calculation?

Thanks

The rate is part of a calculation. If the rate is ten cents a pound, then a package weighing two pounds will cost twenty cents. In that case, the postage is twenty cents (the total paid for the package).

Hi Doctor D,

Thanks. In this case if it is sent by surface, would you say: How much the shipping is it? or How much the cost is?

You need to correctly place the verb, but yes you can say:

How much is the shipping?
What is the cost?
