Possibly even

1-I wanted to knock him off his horse, possibly even to kill him.

Does this mean:
1a- I wanted to knock him off his horse, even if that might have lead to his death,
or:
1b- I wanted to knock him off his horse. Maybe I even wanted to kill him.

2-He put pressure on them to attack me, possibly even to kill me.

Does this mean:
2a-He put pressure on them to attack me even if that might have lead to my death.
or:
2b-He put pressure on them to attack me. He possibly even put pressure on them to kill me.
