Possibly being impermissible to do so

Is the sentence below grammatically correct and natural enough? Does the part in bold mean this: possibly which is not allowed to do so? I mean Are these words 'which is' shortened as 'being'?

? The parent realized they were selling this item without having paid attention to it possibly being impermissible to do so.
