(possessive) This is picture of him or his?

1. This is his picture.
2. This is picture of him.

Q) I thought the possesive version for #1 is not #2 but like this; "This is picture of his".
Which is correct? My example or #2?

A picture of him has him in it. A picture of his is one he took or one he owns. His picture can be either, but it defaults to a picture of him, I think.

It is possible to take a picture of yourself, like a self-portrait.
This is his picture of himself.

If I snapped the photo then say: This is a picture of him that I took.
If he snapped a photo of me, say: This is his picture of me that he took.

Wow, I didn't know about the point answered. Thank you.

Q1) Then if I say something like this, is it ambiguous?; This is picture of mine; 1. A picture of me that has me in it. 2. A picture of someone or me whose possession belongs to me.

Q2) "This is my picture" can be ambiguous just like the example in Q1, can't it? Here, the context breaks the ambiguity right?

This is a picture of mine. No ambiguity. You own the picture.

This is my picture of me. It is a picture that you own, and it shows you.
I have pictures of me as a baby and when I was in first grade.
This is my only picture of my fathe

1. We took some pictures of ourselves

Then we can change #1 to these two versions:
2. We took some pictures of us.
3. We took some pictures of ours.

Q) My guess for #2 and #3 is correct, isn't it?
Q1) If so, which is the most common version?

This is a picture of him.

For me pictures of his is correct. Because it has dual meaning u can own the photo while ur photo is not in it, secondly you can own the photo and still your photo is is still on it

Talking about picture of him I think is incorrect for example why don't we say " house of him" " hair of him" but we can say his hair, his house.
