Possessive plural

Which of the two following sentences is more grammatically correct, and why?

"Student photographs will be taken today."

"Students' photographs will be taken today."

Both are fine. The first is easier, because you don't have to worry about the apostrophe.

Definitely the second.

A noun adjective normally identifies the noun it describes.\
e.g. a student driver is a student and a driver.
a student's driver is just a driver not a student. It's the driver of the student.

A student photograph would mean both a student and a photograph, which is ridiculous.
Accordingly, a student's photo

...although we can say mountain pictures and mountain views. And the noun adjectives function differently from what I said earlier.
