Possessive case - degrees&qualifications

Hi,

I am proofreading a formal document and I am not sure with the little chunk below. Could you please advise:

"This wide spectrum of disciplines proved to be essential to develop and successfully complete my masters and doctoral degree where my interests moved toward investigating the trajectories of contemporary migrations ."

which one is more correct and elegant:

1)my masters and doctoral degree or my master's and doctoral degree

2)where my interest moved towards or when my interests moved towards

Please do not hesitate to suggest other options if you think that these ones are not appropriate:)
