Position

I have joined my position as a lecturer in XXX college, AAA on 1st September, 2018.

Is the use of 'position' correct in the sentence?

Thanks.

"position" is correct in itself, but "joined" is the wrong verb to go with "position", and the present perfect tense does not match the reference to a specific date. I would also use "at" rather than "in" as the preposition. You can say: I took up my position as a lecturer at *** college, AAA on 1st September, 2018.
