Mister Micawber1. S/He is an important figure in Norwegian politics.
2. S/He is an important figure in UK politics.

could you explain the reason why "the" is front of "politics" to me?

however, if I change the "politics" to another field, I have to use "the", for example:

S/He is an important figure in the tourist industry.

'Politics' is a general field or area of endeavor, which does not normally take the article; the article for 'the tourist industry' is specifying the noun 'industry', not the area of endeavor.

He is in politics.
He is in the field of politics.
He is in the tourist industry.
He is in tourism.
He is in science/chemistry/sports/aeronautics.
He is in the field of science

He is in politics.

if I use "UK" to limit the meaning of politics above, should I put "the" in front of it.

He is in the UK politics. thanks
