Political correspondent/journalist

I am working with Advance Language Practice by Michael Vince. It appears that too often the book gives questionable exercises to the extent that the author limites the correct answers while two or even all options work. My question is based on the following sentence "The report comes from our political correspondent/journalist, Edward Rose". The choise is between "correspondent" and "journalist". I used Oxford Collocations Dictionary and it appears that both correspondent and journalist collocate with "political". Please let me know what is true from native speakers' perspective. Many thanks
