Politeness

I'm writing an essay about an eminent orientalist's works. I've come to one of his interpretations of a poem and I feel it's wrong. I want to add a note and express my own opinion. How can I politely say that the orientalist is wrong? I mean what phrase or structure would be appropriate?
Thanks in advance

There is no need to suggest that s/he is wrong; all you need do is present your own translation: "..., which I would translate as '....' "
