Polite enough

Hi. Could you please check the following text? Is it polite enough? And do you see any grammatical mistakes? Thank you for your help.
Dear Professor Smith,
I had the opportunity to study your book on electrochemistry and found it very informative and thorough. However, there are a number of typos throughout the book which are somehow distracting. For example, in Preface: "X immersed in aggressive" should be "in an aggressive" or on page two, we see "the metal oxidation is shown on the left-hand side of the electrode" which, according to Figure 1.1, should be changed to "on the right-hand side of the electrode". I believe the removal of these typos will increase the quality of this great book. I'm working on a list which hopefully might come in handy."

Thank you for the advice. I will not send it to the author. Apart from the receiver of the text, are there any grammatical mistakes or inappropriate use of words? Thank you again.
