Points On/Off

Suppose a question on a test is worth three points. If I answered the question wrong, I would say:

"It's three points off."

If I answered it correctly, could I say:

"It's three points on."

If wrong, you would say, "It's three points off." If right, you would say, "I got three points."

Saying, "It's three points on" would be incorrect.

I lost three points.

Actually, I'd say 'marks' rather than 'points'.

It all depends on how the teacher is grading the paper.

Suppose he starts with a perfect score, say 100 percent.

If you get the first question (worth 3%) wrong, he deducts 3 percentage points from (takes 3 points off of / subtracts 3 from) the perfect score. So now you have a 97/100 score.
