Point's names

Hey there! In my english class a student said that his former teacher taught him the names of the point in difference situations (.), for example when we use a point in a electronic address is different than we use a point in a normal sentence. Is it true? What is the name for each situation?

Thanks in advance! Emotion: smile

Hi

On the web it is usually just called 'dot' - www dot EnglishForward dot com

In English numbers, it is called the decimal point: 987.345
