He points at the horns of a cow.

He points out the horns of a cow.

Are both expressions OK and/or is there a difference?

Here's the basic idea.



point - Use your finger. You can do this when you are alone.

eg He pointed at the horns.



point out - Show somebody something.

eg He pointed out the horns (to Tom).

eg He pointed out (to Mary) that she was wrong.
