Pointed vs Pointing

How would you say this please? Would you phrase it like this?

1 The surveillance camera is pointed/pointing directly at the safe.

"The camera is pointed at" is the present simple passive. As if some past event is written "between the lines" - during the installation the camera underwent adjustment to have the safe in the view.
