Point the way "for" or "to"?

Hi,

A question goes:

---
It's the balancing out of sociological likenesses and psychological differences that seems to point the way for the most solid lifelong romance.
---

The answer says that "for" is wrong.
How to make it right?

I think "to" might do, but I am not sure.

Best Wishes
