Hi, I have two meanings for "Points out"- Mention and indicates
My guess is that Indicates is the correct one for the word in my text?
Is it correct to understand "Coming into existence" as "Began to take shape" (As people) ?
"Mormons point out that God commanded Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to practice polygamy at the foundation of Israel; plural marriage served the same purpose when the Mormon people were coming into existence."

I would not have used the phrasal verb "point out" here. What do you think of this sentence? "Mormons remind us (say) that *** commanded Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to practice polygamy at the foundation of Israel; plural marriage served the same purpose when the Mormon people began to evolve into a cohesive group."
