Point of laughter

The point of laughter in the last story is that instead of being ashamed of his lie that was exposed to his neighbour, who came to lend his donkey, when his donkey braved just after he told him that he had already lent his donkey, he made a lame excuse for not lending his donkey saying, "A man, who believes the words of a donkey in preference to my words, doesn't deserve to be lent anything."
