Speech & Pronunciation

point, dot, period...

When 13.12 is a decimal, it is read as thirteen point one two.

If it refers to Chapter 13, Section 12, how should I read it? Should it be read as

1. thirteen point twelve,

2. thirteen dot twelve,

3. thirteen point one two,

or anything else?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

I see you haven't received any answer, Theo... Why not just pronounce it the way you wrote it? Chapter 13 etc...

I don't really have much chance to speak a book section like 13.12, but I suppose that my inner voice says 'thirteen, (pause), twelve'; if challenged, I would say 'chapter thirteen point twelve'. All in all, Pieanne's is the wisest path.
