Point?

"I'm looking for X, could you point me in the right direction/Could you point me to it."
Is it okay to use the above sentences while asking for directions, and do they sound natural?
X being a place or a certain area within a place.

"Could you point me in the right direction?" is natural. It may suggest that you think the other person knows the direction, which might not be the case if you ask someone at random. I don't think I would use "Could you point me to it?"
