Point

Our language is different from yours in many ways.

Our language is different from yours in many points.

I don't know but to me the second example seems a bit strange, or at least different in its meaning from the first one.

Could anybody explain why? Or are they both semantically the same?

Hi, 'Ways' is the more common term. ''Points' suggests to me that you are speaking of very precise differences. ' On many points' is also said, although I think less commonly than 'in'.

So you think they are both fine, and very roughly speaking they are the same, although 'ways' are much more common?
