Poet/translator needed URGET "Sweet about me" song
I have tried to find a translation into Spanish or, even better a good parallel paraphrase version in easy English, for this hit by Gabriella Cilmi.
The video is about a tough girl (No tengo nada de dulce=There's nothing sweet about me). And in the video there's a man hanging from a string who therefore sees the world upside down. No problem here.
But the rest of the song is rather cryptic at least for non-native speakers.
This is my second huge frustration about an amazing song that I wanted to take to my English class but the lyrics are so obscure that don't make sense and will get the young students completely confused if I do (My first all time frustration is Dylan's Mr Tambourine man).
Any kind poetic soul who would give me, my students and other interested teachers the present of his/her wisdom??
Here's the lyrics with particularly obscure passages in brackets:
Ooh, watching me Hanging by A string this time
[Don't, easily The climax Of the perfect lie]
Ooh, watching me Hanging by A string this time
[Don't, easily Smile worth A hundred lies]
If there's lessons To be learned [I'd rather get My jamming words --- In a Google search native speakers couldn't agree what jamming words are--- In first, ] so Tell you something That I've found That the world's A better place When it's Upside down, boy
If there's lessons To be learned I'd rather get My jamming words In first, so When your playing With desire [Don't come running To my place When it burns Like fire, boy ] ---- If the boy's desire is burning like fire, he should go to her place right???-----
Chorus (4x): Sweet about me Nothing sweet About me, yeah
Blue, blue, blue Waves, they crash As time goes by So hard to catch [Too, too smooth Ain't all that Why don't you ride On my side Of the tracks ]
If there's lessons To be learned I'd rather get My jamming words In first, so Tell you something That I've found That the world's A better place When it's Upside down, boy
If there's lessons To be learned I'd rather get My jamming words In first, so When your playing With desire Don't come running To my place When it burns Like fire, boy
Lots of thanks!!
