The Poet's Path...

To delve the essence of the world
where spirit keeps its secrets furled

Where should the mind that moment be?

Not in this world - but of it free!

Not to temptations of the heart

of mundane things to stay apart

To silence tuned and then to hear

such things that ego cannot fare.

Then in this state ideas may come

a special music, a different drum

From deeper levels of the mind

might spirit yield up thoughts divine.

Pray listen to life’s heady sounds

not to the chatter brain compounds

A higher purpose dare to live

The universe – an artist’s sieve.

Now free of ego – words will spring

linked to life’s meaning poems will bring

Unhindered by self-righteous qualms,

of mind to capture nature’s psalms.
