Poem: The Little Boy

The Little Boy

Ball of yarn in one hand

A wooden sword in the other

One tug of the yarn

Secured around the kitchen table

He looks out the open door

And waits…

For the courage that is there

To build up

And launch him out into the world

A world yet discovered

He looks out the open door

And waits…

Adventures around every corner

Friends not yet met

One tug of his knapsack straps

To make sure it is tight

He looks out the open door

And marches forward.
