Poem

Hi

Rupert Brooke wrote (about war):

Now God be thanked Who has matched us with this hour

And caught our youth, and wakened us from sleeping.

--- does "matched" here mean that God let us pit against this hour?
What about "cauht our youth"?
I know what they mean, but I'm looking for different expressions conveying the same meaning.

Newguest I know what they mean Well, then you're doing better than I. My guess is as follows: Thank *** for selecting this time to capture the imaginations of us young people in order to inspire us to higher goals. And it's only a guess.

Ah! I understand -- the separate words! But that's the easy part, isn't it?
