The trees in Alabama are awash with colour. When I look out of my kitchen windows I can see a view of the mountainside It never fails to amaze me. It is the one thing Of which even the natives never seem to tire. It is hard to describe the splendour of the scenery,
But I’ll try.
It is always BREATHTAKING!
The way the sunlight catches the brilliant scarlets and golds. The way some trees lose their leaves quickly And become delicate pale grey skeletons Which produce a fine grey mist over the scene. The way dark green conifers stand out in contrast To the vivid yellow sugar maples with jet black branches; And the startling vivid red of the red maples intermingle With the bronze, turning to deep purple-red leaves of the dogwoods.
.Magical.
All covering acres, and acres of forest Visible from my windows.
Pictures even, cannot reproduce the wonder of seeing it first hand.
During the summer all trees up the mountainside look the same. It is only in the glorious autumn sunshine, When they have changed colour That you can tell the trees apart.
Then
The mountainside becomes a palette Of every shade of green brown grey And every shade of orange gold and scarlet
Imaginable.
Nature’s show is STUNNING!
A SUDDEN SHOCK!
A 100% effective. It simply cannot be ignored.
It is the one thing I will never get used to And its all free.
