Finding an affordable apartment
Since I have lived in a house when I was a kid, I always wanted to buy a house. However, I knew that buying a home was very expensive. Instead, I have decided to rent apartments because they were more affordable for me. Although apartments are almost the price of a mortgage on a home, I knew that I was able to afford the responsibility of being a tenant rather than a home owner. As I thought about all of the quality’s I wanted in my new apartment I knew that the process of finding a better location and apartment might take a while, but well worth it. To choose the apartment I wanted, I thought about the location, finances, and what I wanted my apartment to have, and finally chose the apartment I could afford and was satisfied with the place of my choosing.
First, I looked at a few locations of where I wanted to live. I knew that I wanted to live in a peaceful environment. I thought about being close to where I work or at least have an accessible route to work. I also need to be close to the school I was attending at the time, and I figured that I wanted to be close to the city. When I finally found the location I then started to think about rent and how much I was able to afford.
Secondly, I had to figure out the amount I was able to pay for rent. I had to start saving for the security deposit, so I did research on different prices on apartments in the area. After assessing the amount I need to have to pay for all of the expenses that the owners needed me to provide. I opened a savings account and began depositing the money that I needed to put down on an apartment of my choosing. As I was saving my money I was also thinking about what I wanted my apartment to include.
Thirdly, while I was thinking about what I was able to afford, I was also thinking bout what I wanted my apartment to include. At the top of my list was space, so I knew that I needed a spacious bathroom, bed room, and kitchen. Next I wanted a porch because I like to get fresh air while sitting on a lounge chair and getting into a good book. The most important is washer and dryer, having no access to them and having to go to a laundry mat is a hassle. When I have gone through my list of necessities on an apartment I can afford it was time to make appointments with landlords to check out apartments and choose the right one for me.
Finally, when I finished going to all my appointments with different landlords about their properties for rent. I made a list of the apartments that I was most interested in to the least. That’s when I figured out which apartment I was interested in and able to afford the rent. I made my phone call to the landlord and made an appointment to arrange a lease signing and a payment for the security deposit and the first month’s rent on the apartment of my choosing. After meeting with the landlord, I now have my key, including everything that I wanted in my apartment.
