1. Global environmental issues are the responsibility of rich nations not of poorer nations. Do you agree with this opinion?

Global environmental problems are something that every living being has to deal with, both in the developing and developed world. Some sections of society argue that the developed nations are at fault ,whilst others believe that the poorer developing nations are also at fault. However, I believe that both the rich and poor countries are both responsible, as they both contribute to this problem, albeit in different capacities.

To begin with, it is major responsibility of more developed countries to deal with environmental dilemmas as the majority of factories are operating in these countries.Industrial waste, sewage and emission are the main factors causing global warming and shortage of fresh water for use.In addition to this,most vehicles are owned by people in wealthy countries because of their purchasing power.Along with this is the development in living standard and the entertainment industry which can also seriously affect the environment.However,although they greatly contribute to the proportion of the pollution, they possess the tools to remedy the predicament, while poor countries can not.

As mentioned above, not only rich countries but also developing and under developed countries are in charge of threatening the ecosystem.Many poor countries now are trying to catch up with the wealthier nations but this effort are also pressing on natural resources which lead to excessive exploitation and bad impact on nature.For instance, as they don't have the luxury of switching to renewable sources of energy, mainly due to the cost involved, they need to stick to their current means, which is the burning of fossil fuels.The most important reason is the world is connected, so even if one part of it tries to improve the condition of the environment, it will not matter. We all share the same planet, it is the responsibility of everyone to protect it.

To conclude, both the developing and developed nations are responsible for the current global environmental crisis,and the best way to help the environment is for everyone to take care of it. Countries that have more money should take the lead, but protecting the environment needs to be a priority for all of us.
