Zelda I
The Legend of Zelda

The first part of the Zelda-series became the predecessor of all modern adventure games through its (at that time)
revolutionary game design. The design of the graphical surface, the division onto world map and dungeons and the tons
of puzzles to solve have made history. Sword, shield, boomerang, rupees, gambling houses, Oktorocs, Moblins and much more,
all these things existed yet in the "ancient version" of The Legend of Zelda. Gaming fun is incredibly high in spite of the
simple graphics and insider tell the game to be the most tricky one of the whole series. It's really worth checking out!

_____

WALKTHROUGH

Items and teleporter

On the beginning of the game, you're a real have-nothing. Aside of three (luckily filled-up) heart containers and a shield you're
standing with empty hands. But as the game goes on, you are able to buy useful items in some shops, sometimes they're even presents.
Although, the most items you will have to fight - inside the mazes.

Your first sword is given to you in the cave direcly behind where you start.

Rupees are the official currency in Hyrule Kingdom. You earn them mostly by defeating enemies and you need them to upgrade your
equipment. You can carry 255 of them.

The fairy sometimes appears out of defeated enemies and rescues you by refilling a part of your heart containers. On the world map
you luckily can also find two Fairy Springs that totally refill your energy. The first one is in the west: go one square up, four
times left and another two times up. The other one is east: one up, two to the right and another three up.

The clock also is a very rare leftover of your enemies. Taking it, you are invincible for a short period.

The bombs you can buy in the shops. Sometimes, defeated enemies also drop some. A very important purpose is the blowing up of hidden
passages inside the dungeons.

The map shows your way inside the mazes. You've got to find one in each maze.

The compass marks on your map the spot where you'll find the boss. Also for this item: find another one in each maze.

The bow you can find in the first maze; but you still need to buy the arrows.

Arrows are available in about every shop.

You can conquer the wooden boomerang in level one.

As soon you own five heart containers, you can to get the white sword in a cave up ahead of the water falls. To get it, go (from
the square where you start the game) one square to the right, five up, one left, one up, three right and another one up.

As soon you show the letter to the white women, you can purchase magical medicines for the rest of the game. Just go from the be-
ginning four times right, five up, two right, one up, one right and another one up to reach the cave with the letter.

The red medicine you can buy by the different white women as soon you have showed the letter once. You can refill your hearts two
times using it.

The blue medicine is also available by the white women. It's lower price, but it refills your hearts only once.

The magical boomerang that has got the doubled range of the normal one is to fight for in level 2.

The raft is waiting for you inside a cellar in level three. From now on you can cross the water from the planks on. Without the raft,
you can't reach level four.

The blue candle is available to buy in many shops, for example from the beginning one up and one left. You'll need it from level four
on to light the dark rooms.

The ladder you can find in level four inside a cellar. From now on you can cross small water spaces.

The flute is your price in level five. You need it to kill the Digdoggers. Inside level seven you'll only find the entrance using it.
If you want to quicktravel to a level entrance walking around on the world map, just play it and a small whirlwind will get you
there.

The Somaria Rod lies deep inside level six.

The magical sword is hidden on the graveyard near level six. On the gravefield on the right top side, you can push one of the graves
northwards (you might need the bracelet of strength). Take the right one of the two middle graves and the entrance to a hidden cave
appears. But remember: You need twelve heart containers to receive it!

The magical shield is available in some shops for a whole 160 rupees. You can - beneath other uses - block magical attacks.

The blue ring is also available to buy. But you'll have to pay 250 rupees and the shop is damn well hidden. Go one square up (from
the beginning) and four times left so you reach the hut of the old woman. Then walk north until you can't go further. Then shove
aside one of the armos knight statues and the way is open for the "Really expensive stuff shop". Owning the blue ring, you
automatically get a new light blue armor that upgrades your defense.

The bait is available in the same shop as the ring ("Really expensive stuff shop"). It is very useful on level seven to calm down
the grumbling Goriyas.

The red candle can be found in the cellar of level seven. It lights up dark rooms, now it's even possible to do it multiple times
in a row. Occasionally it can even be used as a weapon. And there is much stuff that can be enflamed...

The magical book (level eight) powers up your magical energy. Your magical rod also can throw flames now!

The magical key can be found inside level eight. Owning it, you won't ever need a key again.

The red ring inside level nine doubles the armor of Link (if you already got the blue armor; otherwise, your armor will be
multiplied by four, of course). Link will wear a red armor now.

The most important weapon of all are the silver arrows. They're hidden inside a cellar of level nine.

Teleports

One field to the right beneath the entrance to level six you can see four suspiciously looking stones. Give the stone all left one
little shove up (using the bracelet of strength) and you'll find the entrance to a cave (guess what). Below ground you'll find three
exits: One leads to the woods. There, go one field up and you can refill your energy on a fairy spring. The second exit leads two
squares right of the starting field, the third one leads to the very north east of the map. From now on you can travel as you like
around the surface and refill your hearts.

HEART CONTAINER

Even before heading for the first level, you can get the first three of five heart containers. You'll discover caves or rooms where
an old man lets you choose between a medicine bottle and a heart container. Take the heart! You'll be able to buy the medicine later
by the old women!

For the first heart container you need to blast a hole into a stone wall. To do this, go from the beginning four squares right, five
up and one right. In the right below corner of the rock you can blast the entrance to the old man.

The second heart container you also find inside a cave to be opened by a bomb. Go four squares right from the beginning. In the
straight wall aside of the path the entrance will open.

Heart container number three is only available by raft. Nine squares right and five up you'll find planks where you can set sail
pressing the B-Button. It will take you directly to an abandoned island only inhabited by the friendly, old man.

The fourth heart container lies on a plank three fields underneath the raft planks (nine squares to the right and two up from the
beginning). To get it, you need the ladder.

The fifth and last heart container is hidden underneath a bush that you need to burn down to get it (one square to the right, three
up and one left from the starting square).

STORY

Zelda 1 - Story

A long, long time ago, chaos ruled the world. Amid these uncalm times, in a small kingdom named Hyrule, a mighty treasure
was passed on for endless generations: the legendary Triforce. The three golden pieces of the Triforce posessed unmeasurable
magical Power: Wisdom, Power and Courage.

One day, a cruel army invaded the kingdom and stole the Triforce of Power. This army was lead by Ganon, the mighty master of
Darkness. Underneath his reign of terror, he wanted to spread fear and horror around the world. To hinder Ganon to get his hands
onto another piece of the Triforce, Zelda, the princess of Hyrule, divided her Triforce of Wisdom into eight pieces and hid them
all over the land of her kingdom. At the same time, she send her loyal servant Impa secretly on a quest to find the one, the hero
who has the courage to fight Ganon. As Ganon got to know of the escape of Impa, he locked down Zelda in the deepest dungeon of the
castle and send out his troops to hunt down Impa.

Impa fled through the wildest canyons. But after a long and exhausting chase she was found and chased into a corner by Ganons troops.
What was it she could do? She yet despaired...
But suddenly, a young man stepped onto the plain. With sudden and skillful strikes, he defeated ganons men and saved Impa from a
destiny worse than death. His name was Link. By chance, he stepped into the battle. Impa told him the whole story about princess
Zelda and the invasor Ganon.

Enflamed by his urge for justice, Link decided to save the princess. But Ganon was a mighty enemy. And he owned the Triforce of
Power! To defeat Ganon, Link had to find the eight hidden fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom and unite them into a holy entity.
If he failed, there was no way for Link to fight his way to Death Mountain where the vicious Ganon had his hideout.

Could Link really defeat Ganon and rescue princess Zelda? Only your skills can answer this question. Good luck! And use the power
of the Triforce wisely...
