pluralize last names

The last name is Somer. We want to put our name on top of our mailbox. Do we write "The Somers", "The Somer's," or "The Somers'"?

If you want to emphasize the ones who live in your house,you'll write " The Somers ",however if you want to mention that, that mailbox belongs to your family,then you'll have to write " The Somers' ".

Why don't you just put 'Somer'? That's what lots of people do.

In the same way as I suggested in 2005, you might consider simply putting 'Gonzalez' on your mailbox.
