Plural & singular

Could you explain me, please? There is a song "Out of reach" and it starts with "Knew the signs wasn´t right". Why is there "wasn´t" after "signs", not "weren´t"? I couldn´t find the answer. Thank you in advance!

If that really is the lyric then it is just bad English.

By the way, just so you know, you are using the wrong character for the apostrophe. You are using an acute accent. An apostrophe looks like ' or ’
