When two uncountable nouns are joined with 'and', you should use a plural verb (Water and coffee are two nutritious drinks). But when two items are just like Siamese twins, you can use a singular verb (Bread and butter is my morning food). Here, bread and butter is singular as they are not taken separately.

  • But when they are separate, you should use a plural verb (Bread and butter are sold here).

Yes, you should. Why? Because you're talking about two things, irrespective of the fact that they're individually uncountable things.

Example.

The water is in the fridge.

The coffee is in the fridge.

Both of them are in the fridge.

Water and coffee are two nutritious drinks.

Thank you very much Mr. Abootty. That was a nice grammatical point.

I wonder if you can think of other examples in addition to bread and butter.

Thanks
