plural or singular

We need to adopt ourselves to social life, but at the same time, we have to keep our privacy. So our homes are the most important places/is the most important place.

About the part in red, which should it be? Is singular OK as well here?

Sorry, that's a typo.

Schetin, you are right. It should have been 'are the most important place' instead of 'is the most...'

If I saw the singular "Our home is..." I would not assume we all shared the same home.

On the other hand, if I saw the plural "Our homes are..." I would not assume that we all have more than one home.

And sorry, I didn't realize that you were only asking about the is/are, having decided to use homes (plural). As has already be addressed, it should be "are."

But I still don't think that "So our homes are t

Because logic trumps syntax.

And I was just giving you some suggestions.

Our homes are the most important places is not complete. For what?

Hi Barbara,

The question is still in the air; what do you think: Are our homes ... a place or places?
