Plural of E-mail

If E-mail comes from mail, why do people use E-mail(s), the plural form with a "s"? Is this usage wrong?

Thanks,

As a native speaker of AmE it seems OK to me. It's true that you wouldn't say "I received five mails today" but saying "I received five e-mails today" stirkes me as perfectly natural.

It's a relatively new concept, and I think we should consider both correct at this time.
