Plural form parallelism

In English, if parallelism is at work, concrete nouns, though usually used with a/an/the or in their plural forms, are often used without or not in their plural forms.

eg They have the unbreakable bond between parent and child.

But is there something like 'plural form parallelism'? By it, I mean when a word not usually used in the plural form is put together with a plural noun, this word will be changed into the plural form.

-We may be mistaken in our reasonings and conjectures, but what God has said must be true.

As far as I know, reasoning is not usually used in the plural form. Is it used in the plural form because the writer wants to balance it with the plural conjectures?

Thank you.

  • This is fine: We may be mistaken in our reasoning and conjectures, but what *** has said must be true.
