Plural and Singular be verb

Hi! Are both 1 and 2 acceptable? Number 4 is wrong. Thanks, Fulvio

2. There are delicious cheeses and pasta.
3. There is the Leaning Tower of PIsa and the colosseum.

I guess these would be both correct too.

But they are two things as the compound subject of 'are'. It is your #s 1 and 3 that may be challenged by some grammarians.
