plural & singular of "COPY"

0Dear all,02br
00I'd like to ask if the word "copy" should be used as singular in the following case:02br
00"A copy of the letter and Form A is enclosed for your reference."02br
00My understanding is that "a copy" refers to 1 set of copy made of the originals, and it will remain singular regardless of whether the originals is singular or plural as long as it's just 1 set. I have been believing that I should only use "copies" when I refer to 2 or more sets of replicates, e.g., "Copies of the letter and Form A are enclosed for your reference" will sound to me like there's not just 1 set of the letter and form.02br
00But I'm really not sure. Would be grateful if someone could pls answer my post 05002br
00Thanks! 010id1

0 Sorry... let me clarify: I made a copy of the letter and a copy of Form A, and I would like to enclose BOTH. 0-

0Hi, 02br
00If you send a form to somebody for filling in, it doesn't matter whether it is a copy or not. Whatever means used to produce the copy (photocopying, printing on a printer, etc.) is immaterial. As long as I need to sign on it and you accept it, I regard it as the original. If the said Form A is a record of something signed by the sender, that would be another story. 0

0Honestly, I think you can say "a copy of the letter and Form A is enclosed" because you are talking about a "set," but you can say "are enclosed" to refer to the two pieces of paper.0-
