The controversy over whether art should be taught at school or not has always been discussed by the public, as some people doubts that teaching art is a waste of time. To my perspective, however, art is an essential subject that should not be abandoned.

It is evident that accessing to art is very beneficial to children . Besides the academic knowledge and extracurricular activities at school, art subject can also promote the creativity of the children; therefore, contribute to the comprehensive development of the children. Drawing require the students to conceive the images or scenes in their mind, while painting request them to use their aesthetic sense and imagination to visualize and compare which color best fit the picture. Therefore, such simple nature of studying art can boost the students’ ingenuity and cleverness.

In a larger scale, the art culture might be undermined if more and more schools are abandoning art. If the young generations do not have access to art at their early ages, there will be decreasing proportion of people overall in the pursuit of art. For example, aesthetic ability need to be trained through a prolonged period of time, even if a person have a natural one, then the early access of art from the subject being taught at school might help that artistic genius realize his ability. This will not risk our art culture to be on the verge of deterioration.

In conclusion, art is a crucial subject which not only contribute to the well-rounded nurture of the children, but also yield a generation ready for the pursuit of art in their later life. Thus, art should not be abolished from the education of the students.
