Pls help me with the grammar/usage

How do we say in a sophisticated way, we i attend/go out to an important event, or to a place where something happens. for eg.:
I used to ... the Webley stadium. (turn out maybe?)
I turned to? the airport when my son got back.

I checked it in the dictionary, but it's that detailed.

please help me
