If you look for word volunteering in a dictionary, you will find this definition - generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain. But for me it`s a magic word and I will tell you why.
When you are young and immature, but ambitious student you are trying to start working somewhere. So, lets imagine that you found vacancy and start reading requirement: have theoretical knowledge – yes, passionate – yes, ready for hard work under pressure – yes, have 100560 years of experience – of course no. What are you going to do?
You will go volunteering! I was in that situation and becoming volunteer was one of my best decisions.
First of all, trying different kinds of tasks gives an amazing opportunity to find out what you want to do in this life. For example, if technical student feels like he made wrong choice by applying to fiscal faculty, he/she can volunteer as helper of event manager to try if this profession fits him better.
Another equally important consideration is that participating in different projects you will meet passionate and interesting people, who will be your colleagues. To approve this statement I have my own story. One of my best friends Dima was my co-worker at musical event. We had a great day working side by side and talking about our similar music tastes. Also, all those people, who you meet become big network of your acquaintances. Never know how they can influence your life.
Furthermore, being a volunteer is one of the greatest ways to get the career skills you need. It means that after graduation young specialist can apply for a job, which requires working experience.
