Pls help me (Ielts task2)

Some people think that universities should provide knowledge and skills related to a future career; others think that the true function of a university is to give access to knowledge for its own sake. What is your opinion of the main function of a university?

Nowadays, an increasing number of people are concerned about the function of universities. Whether they should give top priority to job-related skills or theoretical knowledge has caused heated debates. From my view of point, universities which mainly focus on practical skills will bring more benefits to society.

First, university is the place where students obtain knowledge and skills, which are very essential to their future career. If universities provide students practical skills related to their jobs in future, students can have more experience and chance to work in top companies. Therefore, they can be able to earn livings, raise families and achieve life value.

Moreover, universities which give students access to job-related skills will make greater contribution to social progress and acquire reputation due to the number of students who are successful in careers. MIT, for example, an institution provides seniors with internships to work in companies, which makes it became one of the famous universities for graduate jobs.

However, that is not to say that theoretical knowledge should be ignored owing to the fact that it is the foundation of practical and professional skills, and there are still some students who want to become researchers, scientists and so on. But unfortunately, those people are few.

In conclusion, while some people argue that universities should mainly focus on knowledge, I strongly believe that students need to be provided with practical skills in order to achieve their dream jobs.
