Topic 1: Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
My essay:
Every year, thousands of people apply for a great deal of universities. However, it is sometimes argued that universities should have equal numbers of gender, male and female students in every university courses. I completely disagree with this idea.
First, some subjects are more suitable and have more applications with one gender than the other. For example, technology courses often have more male students' applications, while most other for nurses courses are female. Computer attracts more interest from male students. While female students tend to apply for language courses or nursing courses. It would be difficult to calculate the equal number of male and female students for these courses.
Second, it would be fair if admission to university courses depends on individual ability, irrespective of their gender. Universities should make the decisions to accept applications according to their exam score and curriculum vitae. It gives them more motivations to study hard at school and get good scores. If a male student fails to apply for university courses because they have enough equal numbers of male and female students, it will be unfair and makes a lot of arguments. In additions, if universities just choose their students according to their gender, it will be counterproductive to make their qualifications to be lower.
In conclusion, I believe that applications for universities should be accepted according to their ability and talents instead of their gender. It would be unfair and make a great deal of difficulties to have an equal number of male and female students in every university courses.
