The bar chart compares the time was spent by 10 to 15-year-olds in two activities, chatting on the Internet and playing on games console on an average school day in the UK.
Overall, playing on games console is more popular than chatting on the Internet. Boys tend to spend time for games console, while the opposite was true for girls who are likely to chat on the Internet.
The proportion of boys who spend less than 1 hour chatting on the Internet and on playing on games console was equal at 28%. Boys who spend playing games console from 1 to 3 hours and 4 hours plus were almost double percentage than chatting on the Internet.
In contrast, girls prefer chatting on the Internet. Girls who prefer spending from 1 to 3 hours on chatting accounted for 25%. The percentage of girls who play on games consoles less than an hour was recorded at approximately 38%. Around 9% of girls spend 4 hours plus to chat on the Internet. This percentage was higher than playing on games console, almost 8%.
