Topic: People are consuming more and more sugar-based drinks. Why? What can be done to reduce sugary drink consumption?

It is true that the consumption of sugary drinks is increasing. The effects of advertisements and the development of the soft drinks industry are the most compelling reasons to explain this trend. However, there are many solutions, in my opinion, to solve this problem.

Nowadays, there are many reasons that lead to the high consumption of sugary drinks. First, advertisements are one of the most compelling reasons. Many famous brands have invited many celebrities that take advantage of their reputation to advertise many their items. For example, Messi is one of the most famous football players in the world who represented worldwide sugary drink brand, Coca - Cola. This advertisement attracted a lot of interest from not only football fans but also sugary drinks fans. This can also be further seen in the fact the development of the sugary drink industry encourages young children to buy these drinks. Different tastes of drinks cater for different tastes of everybody in various contexts. However, this trend carries serious health risks, including life-threatening conditions. Many people, especially youngsters, are addicted to high sugar content that leads to being prone to obesity.

Nevertheless, I believe that there are many solutions that can tackle the high consumption of sugary drinks. Firstly, governments can raise people's awareness based on health awareness campaigns. Health warnings on labels are necessary to raise the consciousness of people, especially young people. Second, governments should raise taxes to reduce the sales of soft drinks. America is successful to apply this policy and could be implemented by other countries, too.

In conclusion, it is obvious that there are various factors leading to the high consumption of soft drinks and steps need to be taken to address the health problems from this trend.
