Topic: People living in large cities today face many problems in their everyday life. What are these problems? Should governments encourage people to move to smaller regional towns?
My essay:
In recent years, people living in the metropolis are confronted with a plethora of problems. Unemployment and heavy pollution are the most serious problems in the metropolis nowadays. In my opinion, governments are able to mitigate the burden in large cities by encouraging people to migrate to a smaller regional town.
Nowadays, city dwellers cope with a great deal of problems. First, heavy pollution of air, water, and noise is the most serious problem. Exhaust fumes from industry, transport is a significant contributor to pollution. Therefore, the sheer number of city dwellers face many respiratory diseases such as pulmonary disease. Moreover, heavy pollution of noise is one of the most serious reasons lead to many mental problems like stress and depression. Second, the unemployment rate is high because the workers are abundant in quantity but are lacking in quality. It is not uncommon that in many large cities like New York or Paris, more slums are appearing. Many people could engage in a lot of criminal activities as a way of making a living. Therefore, governments face many difficulties to manage a social life.
In my opinion, governments are able to encourage people to migrate to smaller regional towns which will reduce the burden to metropolis. First, more people move to rural areas which will reduce pressure on major cities and solute various problems such as traffic congestion and unemployment. The government should also invest more money in rural infrastructure and facilities. This new development of rural areas will make more job opportunities for the jobless. Second, the peaceful and fresh air in rural life is beneficial for people's health. It is not impossible that people can develop their mental concentration as well as their physical fitness.
In conclusion, heavy pollution and the high rate of unemployment are the most serious problems in the metropolis. In my opinion, the solution is that governments relocate the population to rural areas which is one of the most viable ways to mitigate pressure on major cities.
