Pls Help! "a" fire ??

Hi,

What is the meaning of this "a fire" ? (This chapter is killing me! I know nothing about this Getty imposter!)

Elvier von Hansford-Getty. She's proud to take it this time. She talks about the Mistress who had a child at the same time that she had the miscarriage. They vacation in Palm Springs with the Steeles'. Danielle Steele and her daughters who do nothing the whole time but try to get down J.G.'s pants. They had a fire one year. It was the assistants fault.

Thank you, I really appreciate you.

Oh, is it like,

No.

It seems they did this repeatedly, over many years. At some point during one of those years, the fire happened.

Imagine I was there in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2005, there was a fire. "One year, there was a fire." It doesn't matter which year, just that there was a fire in one of those years.
