I did some research on website of graduate school of public policy. I also went through the profile of Ph.D. candidates and found that your supervised students’ research fields have a good matching to my research interest and prior background.
MS Y, a PHD candidate, is conducting research on poverty in a developing country, Ghana. In the similar vein, I selected country B for my case studies research while I was writing my thesis. Another PhD student, Tamer Qarmout, who is also under your supervision, is working on civil society and explores the dynamics between civil society organizations & donor funding and ultimately its impacts on the public policy in conflict ridden area. My areas of interests are NGOs, donor agencies from developing country perspective. It is appears to me that my background and research interest. I am very much interested to continue my further studies under your supervision.
I was initially thinking about PhD and then decided to for Master’s in Public Policy. A question may come in your mind that why I am pursuing another Master’s since I have it already. My previous master’s is in public administration. My previous Master’s programme and the thesis I submitted was entirely followed qualitative research approach. I am extremely eager to learn the use of quantitative method in data collection and analysis along with qualitative methods. The courses offered by Master of public policy are another reason for applying master’s programme. Here I am not going for detail discussion, it might prolong the email.
Medium of instruction of my previous study was in English, but my institution is not on the exemption list. I have recently taken up the IELTS test and my score was XX. If you permit me I will send my details CV with language certificate and academic transcript for your kind perusal.
