pls correct my Motivation letter

I am writing to apply for a post graduate program in food science and nutrition.

I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a food technologist who worked as a quality controller in a food industry, Social mobilizer who has established a co-opearative food processing unit (Archana food product) and as a teacher who teaches various subjects (Human Nutrition, Meat technology, Biochemistry, Food microbiology and Food Processing). All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that, all these qualities will influence my future steps.

After completion of my Bachelor degree in food technology, I joined Country Farm House (C.F.H.) a meat processing industries as a quality controller and promoted to Assistant manager within three months. I have learned about analytical thinking, Supply chain, inventory control, and practical aspects of food processing.

Born in a poor farmer family I have always keenness towards the problems of farmers. The farmers of Sarlahi district of one of the largest producers of tomatoes in was facing problems in marketing. They have to struggle even to get a value equal to the input, while whole family was involved in it. I leave C.F.H. and went to Sarlahi, gather farmers formed a Shelf Help Group (S.H.G) and later registered as a co-operative. Within four months we were able to establish a tomato processing unit named Archana food products and some zero energy cold storage units. This not only increased the value addition but also increased the employment opportunities in that area.

After two years working there I realized that my education was not adequate. During that time I was quite popular for my new concept of S.H.G which I also have implemented successfully. Luckly, Central Campus of Technology award me a scholarship for studying M.tech (food) and also offered me a job as a teaching assistant. From four years I am teaching various subjects and have also been regularly involved in research and extension projects through financial assistance by C.C.T. and as a collaborator with other stakeholders. After completion of M.tech the board meeting of selects me an advisor of the Mayor in food safety which I am working till now. I conduct several training in food safety issues by funding and collaboration with , C.C.T., Government livestock training center and Department of Food Technology and Quality control.

As a result of these experiences, I got deeper insight of the severity of Nutritional problems the under privilege society were facing. More than 50 thousand children below 5 years of age die every year in , of which 60% death is caused by malnutrition alone. To add in this every day 135 children under 5 years of age die in and 1 children die in every 10 minute. It has been reported that 54% of children under 5 years of age are suffering from protein energy malnutrition. The main constraints to develop nutritional status are low literacy, poverty, cultural beliefs, lack of trained manpower, poor media promotion, limited resources and moist conflict.

In the year 2005, NUFFIC have awarded me a fellowship to attained a training program “Food industry and Agribusiness” from Sep. 17 to . From the program I learned to design projects, analyze problems and increased my knowledge on risk analysis, food toxicology, food safety and quality assurance. After returning, I have disseminated the knowledge through various seminars and workshops.

still lacks higher studies in Nutritional sciences. C.C.T. developed a course for master degree in Food and Nutritional science which is also approved by the subject committee of the institute. However due to insufficient funding facilities, it is still unable to start the program. For motivation the Institute decides to give a study leave up to two years for all its faculty members who wish to study in Nutritional science. This is a good opportunity for me to strengthen my carrier and to anticipate and react to ever-changing environments. I was in touch with Prof. xxxx and Prof. xxx during completion of my master degree thesis. These respected professors helped me by providing me valuable literatures. From them I know about ICPFSN of xxx University. I have learned that is known for its high academic standards, the faculty's reputation for excellent teaching, challenging coursework and the excellent facilities are added attractions. The programme also offers a wide range of subjects and electives, which will let me broaden my interests in Nutritional science. To study this course I have also applied to xxx (for funding) and the application is in process and will be declared at the end of this month. I don’t want to take any chance to loose this opportunity so I am also applying here.

After pursuing this course I could support the institute to start the foresaid new course and also disseminate the new concept to the faculty members and existing students in B.tech and M.Tech. (Food). The government and INGO’s have allocated a large amount of fund for nutritional programs but due to the lack of trained manpower and the enthusiasum to work in the field level, the fund ended with no result. Having experience from the field level to an academic level and with an advanced knowledge that I would gain from this course, I could develop educational and training programs on site for food producers and consumers in the principles of food security, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, food safety and nutritional sciences in collaboration with different stakeholders. Moreover, the integrated approach from the knowledge that I have on food technology, agribusiness development, and various experiences and from this course, will help to develop the nutritional status and socioeconomic status of my country.
