hello, pls check my grammar for 2 stories.. "The Chrysanthemums" and "The Lottery" thanks for ur time!!! ..
In a short story “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, the author shows her reader a dark side of human nature. A society seems to be very normal yet commits inhumanity of violence toward a woman. The characters in the story seem to be nice, normal people. However, they are capable of vicious act. Their tradition singles out an individual to brutalize and kill without a reason. They are following their tradition. They do not recall their original ceremonies. They just perform it as best as they can because it has always been like that. In the story, Jackson ridicule human nature such as Mrs. Delacroix, who seems to be civilized and sweet, attempts to hurl a stone so large she can barely lift it. The author wants to tell us that people have the potential to be both good and bad; there is savage that exists within all of us. It is irony that Mrs. Hutchinson claims it is unfair for her but it was obviously she had not hesitated to throw rocks at previous lottery winner. Human nature is selfish and always thinking for themselves before others.

“The Chrysanthemums” In a short story “The Chrysanthemums” by John Stainbeck, the author uses a lot of symbolisms to describe the main character Elisa. She is isolated from the rest of the world behind her fenced garden and her life is like the Salinas Valley without sunshine, a boring life. Furthermore, the chrysanthemum flowers represent Elisa’s delicate personality. She appreciates aesthetic beauty and takes good care of it. However, the chrysanthemums are weak and needed a lot of care. When Elisa meets a tinker, who is a pot repairer, she shows her interest in exploring the outside world. She grows some interest in the tinker for he has travelled all over the area and has seen places Elisa would like to see. On the other hand, the tinker only wants to get her to give him some pots to repair evidenced by the fact that near the end of the story, the tinker throws away her flower onto the road. “The Chrysanthemums” shows us true nature of human. The tinker talks sweetly and shows interest in Elisa’s garden and her flowers because he only wants to exploit her. He wants to do repairing pot business with her.
