Many students find it difficult to concentrate or pay attention at school.
What are the reasons? What could be done?

It is true that many students are not good at attention and concentration skills at school. Two factors stand out for this failing, but there are some steps that can be taken to remedy this problem.

There are two common reasons for the lack of concentration and focus in most pupils. The first is the shortage of sleep, most teenagers have schedules that may be over-packed with activities, sports, lessons, clubs and homeworks. Consequently, they often feel overwhelmed and can not get proper amount of sleep daily. Secondly, adolescents are easily distracted by digital devices. As many technologies can be set in silent, a student can text and receive messages, play games during lessons, which make his surroundings disturbed and unable to pay attention to the teacher.

There are measures which can be taken to deal with this issue. Firstly, the government ought to urge education policymakers to start the middle and high school classes later in the morning, so that the odds of adolescents could get sufficient sleep and thrive both physically and academically. In addition, to shape a positive learning environment, asking questions is a great tool for tutors. If a teacher requires his pupils to give their ideas about a social issue, they may feel curious and be stimulated critical thinking. Therefore, more students will find the lecture more interesting and pay attention to the instructor . Finally, cell phones should be banned at schools, as most youngsters are vulnerable to gaming or chatting online.

In conclusion, although focusing on lessons at classroom is a difficult task for many juveniles for some reasons explained, there are some common-sense solutions that can be implemented to confront this problem.
